Yechury questions new educational policies

When the Union cabinet approved the new national education policy here on Wednesday, the opposition claimed that the center violated the rights of states.

CPI (M) Secretary General Sitaram Yechury said the Narendra Modi government is destroying the country’s education system. “The Modi government bypasses the parliament, ignores the opinion of the state governments and pollutes the opinions of everyone involved and unilaterally destroys our education system. Education is on the list of our constitution. It is illegal for the center to enforce educational policies, ”he said.

He added that the centralization, localization and commercialization of Indian education will be resisted. States like Kerala, ruled on the left, had spoken out against the draft of the new educational policy. Opposition MPs had called for a discussion about politics in parliament.
