CHENNAI: BJP Tamil Nadu boss L Murugan fired shots at DMK President MK Stalin on Saturday because of his rejection of the trilingual formula proposed in the center’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and asked why state school students stopped learning Hindi should be “discriminated”.

The NEP’s trilingual formula, which also includes Hindi, had met resistance in Tamil Nadu, and the ruling AIADMK made it clear that the existing bilingual policy (English and Tamil) would continue in the state.

“If students from enrolled schools across Tamil Nadu are offering the opportunity to learn Hindi, the rejection of the third language option for children in state-run schools is a modern day untouchability practiced by Stalin,” he said.

He claimed that people, especially students, were interested in learning Hindi.
