Presently, there are 1.8 crore (18 million) students studying at 1.68 lakh (1,68,000) schools across the state.

UP state primary school students will study NCERT books from the next academic session (2021-22). These books will be rolled out gradually from grades 1 to 8 between 2021 and 2025, UP Minister for Basic Education Satish Chandra Dwivedi said here on Tuesday.

The NCERT books will be introduced first in grade 1 from 2021 to 22, in grades 2 and 3 from 2022 to 23, in grades 4 and 5 from 2023 to 24, and then in grades 6 to 8 from 2024 to 25, said the minister in a press release. The decision to follow the NCERT curriculum in the UP elementary and upper elementary schools was made as directed by Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath, he said.

“We have decided to introduce National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) -based curricula in elementary and upper elementary schools of the UP government from next year to ensure that a common curriculum is followed. It will help the students if their parents move out of UP and move to another location, ”said Dwivedi.

There are currently 1.8 million (18 million) students studying in 1.68,000 (1.68,000) schools across the state. Shortly after the BJP government came to power, the NCERT curriculum was introduced in the UP Board schools. Now it is being implemented in state elementary and upper elementary schools as well.
