Vet Varsity appoints new officials to the institute

LUDHIANA: Chairman of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana (GADVASU) in its 48th yearth The meeting gave a nod to appoint various officers of the university. The board has Dr. JPS Gill as Research Director, Dr. Parkash Singh Brar as Director of Education, Dr. Satyavan Rampal as Director for Welfare with Estate and Dr. H S Banga Appointed Chancellor of the University.

Dr. JPS Gill, who has been named Director Research for the second semester, is a renowned academic and has been a leading researcher for 30 years. and with 11 years. Administrative experience. He is also an Associate Professor at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. Dr. Gill has extensive research experience in managing 38 research projects as Principal Investigator (PI) & Co-PI and has successfully developed nine international collaborations and research proposals. Dr. Gill is the FAO nominated expert for joint FAO / WHO expert meetings on foodborne antibiotic resistance. He is a member of CM Punjab’s High Powered Committee to develop a road map to strengthen the dairy sector in the state. Dr. Gill also worked as an expert member on developing a farmers policy for the sustainable growth of animal production and a policy to double farmers’ incomes. He is a member of the Animal Sector of India’s Food Safety and Standards Authority until 2022.

Dr. Parkash Singh Brar, who is currently the Dean of the College of Veterinary Science, previously served as the University’s Animal Farming Director and will now serve as the Continuing Education Director. He won India’s first double project in partnership with the University of Calgary in Veterinary Education, funded by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), along with 23 other research projects funded by national and international agencies. As coordinator of the Institutional Development Plan funded by the World Bank and the government. of India in the amount of 25 rupees, he made plans to provide students with entrepreneurial skills and improve the proficiency of teachers. A well-traveled person is aware of dairy systems around the world. His priority area remains working closely with the line departments to deliver the technologies developed by the university to farmers and to equip veterinarians, dairy technologists and fishery professionals with better skills.

Dr. Satyavan Rampal has been appointed Director of Welfare and Inheritance for the second term. In his first term as DSW cum EO, his name as Green Man was established by GADVASU through the establishment of a solar panel system for renewable energies and extensive plantations. During his current tenure, new buildings were built for the College of Dairy Science and Technology, the College of Animal Biotechnology, the School of Public Health, and the Girls Hostel. He introduced health insurance for students. He strengthened the technical unit for the construction of various buildings on the GADVASU campus. He also raised sports facilities in various hostels for the general development of the students. Dr. Rampal has several national and international publications to his credit. He has successfully completed many research projects as a PI and Co-PI. He has also served the university as the State Public Information Officer.

Dr. Harmanjit Singh Banga, a respected veterinary pathologist, has been appointed registrar. Previously he was Professor of Veterinary Pathology at the University Librarian and is currently Dean of the College of Veterinary Science at Rampura Phul (Bathinda). He is the founding director of the Center of Advanced Faculty Training (CAFT) as the department pocketed this coveted center during his tenure as director. Dr. Banga received the prestigious Canadian Commonwealth Scholarship for his PhD from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada. He received the Dr. AS Atwal Gold Medal, the Jawaharlal Nehru Trust Award and many awards for the best paper etc. He also developed an e-learning teaching portal “E-Harnirdesh” online and made GADVASU the first veterinary university in the country to implement the learning management system. He developed GADVASU’s Digital Research Repository and several educational YouTube videos.
