UP PCS results 2020: The cause of women’s empowerment was confirmed by the results of the PCS-2018 exam.
Women have bagged over a quarter of all vacancies. 41 of them made the cut as Sub Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) and 18 were selected as Dy SPs in Uttar Pradesh. A total of 119 positions were to be filled by SDM and 94 by DySP. The results of the combined state / subordinate services exam, commonly known as PCS, were announced on Friday.
Records show that of the 976 people selected in PCS-2018, 258 are candidates, including 234 who reside in the state itself. Two dozen successful candidates are based in states other than UP, including the top two from Haryana. Mathuras Jyoti Sharma was in third place.
If one takes into account all women selected in PCS-2018, this amounts to around 26.43 percent according to an analysis of the results.
Records also show that women’s impressive accomplishments in PCS selection are no lightning bolt either. Again in PCS-2017, 281 women succeeded against 676 vacancies at a rate of 26.77 percent – the best of at least four PCS recruitment exams that were previously conducted.
In PCS-2013, 122 women were selected against 654 available positions at a rate of 18.65 percent, while in PCS-2014 114 women were also selected against 579 available positions at a rate of 19.68 percent.
Likewise, in PCS-2015, 100 women were selected against a total of 530 vacancies, which in turn corresponds to 18.86 percent, while in PCS-2016, the results of which were announced on February 22 of this year, 138 women were selected for 630 vacancies around 21.90 percent.
By reviewing UPPSC’s records, Indu Prabha Singh was the front runner in PCS-2005, and after a decade’s hiatus, Jaijeet Kaur Hora of Kanpur took first place in the 2016 PCS recruitment exam.
Women have made impressive progress in the PCS (Justice) exam conducted by UPPSC for the recruitment of civil judges (Junior Division). In PCS (J) -2018, women had bagged 315 out of the 610 jobs offered. In PCS (J) -2018 Akansha Tiwari also appeared as a topper, and women had taken five spots in the top 10.
