Bengaluru-based learning platform Unacademy has acquired PrepLadder, a platform to prepare for medical entrance exams for PhD students, for $ 50 million.
The acquisition will further strengthen the Unacademy’s presence in medical admission exam categories such as the National Qualifying Exam Admission Test for Postgraduate Medical Studies (NEET PG) and the Foreign Medical Exam (FMGE).
“As we strengthen our position as market leader in the test preparation market, the inclusion of PrepLadder for Unacademy will play a strategic role in the category of medical entrance exams. At the Unacademy we have been working to democratize education and this acquisition is a step towards that goal, ”said Gaurav Munjal, co-founder and CEO of the Unacademy.
“The exponential growth of the Unacademy’s subscriber base is evidence of the growing demand for high quality online education,” he added.
The Unacademy recently acquired Kreatryx as part of its inorganic growth strategy and took over the custodian from CodeChef.
PrepLadder was founded in 2016 and specializes in medical examinations. It provides access to training services and preparation material for exams such as NEET PG, AIIMS PG, NEET SS and FMGE. PrepLadder currently has educators who teach over 85,000 active subscribers.
“Unacademy and PrepLadder are working towards a common goal of making quality education accessible to everyone,” said Deepanshu Goyal, co-founder of PrepLadder.
