Roohi Sultana, a Kashmiri-based teacher who teaches her students the “play method”, was selected for the 2020 National Teachers Award, which she dedicated to her students and her education department.
The state school teacher, Sultana, is originally from the Nowshera area of Srinagar and is stationed at Danger Pora State Elementary School, Tailbal Srinagar.
She completed her Masters in Urdu and Kashmiri, B.Ed (Bachelor of Education) and a three-year course in calligraphy.
Speaking to ANI, Sultana said, “I got my education from government institutes when I got my Masters in Urdu and Kashmiri. I did B. Ed (Bachelor of Education), also a degree in calligraphy and a certificate course in Hindi. I’ve wanted to be a teacher since I was a kid. I am happy when my students inspire me. “
Sultana, who describes herself as the moderator, said, “I am associated with the school board as a content creator for Urdu and Kashmiri subjects. I work in Diksha as an e-content creator and I offer students online courses on all Indian radio broadcasts in Srinagar. “
She said a teacher not only teaches children but makes them better people by teaching them about humanity.
“I use a game method to teach my students. I teach them with innovative methods so that students can clarify all the concepts as they study in the classroom, ”she added.
Suhail Bhat, Sultana’s husband, was also happy to hear that his wife had received the National Award from the President of India.
Speaking to ANI, Bhat said, “She is my wife who was selected for the 2020 National Award for Teachers. I’m very proud of her. It is a proud moment not only for the family but also for the teaching community and Kashmir. “
The award will be given on September 5th (Teachers’ Day) by President Ram Nath Kovind. The award is presented each year to provide public recognition to deserving teachers who work in elementary, middle and secondary schools.
