The Punjab government approved on Thursday the provisional admission of over 30,000 open category candidates in 10 + 1 to schools as regular students.
Punjab Minister of Education, Vijay Inder Singla, said the government has decided to allow 31,022 open category 10 + 1 candidates to be provisionally admitted to schools as regular students. “However, such students have to take class X exams when things become normal,” added the minister.
“The open category candidates were faced with a dilemma because they were not admitted to school as regular students. After examining the situation, we decided to give them a short-term relief. Now they can temporarily get admission in 10 + 1, on condition that they have to take the matriculation exams as soon as things normalize, ”said Singla.
In a press release, the minister said that the Punjab School Education Board’s (PSEB) regular student’s matriculation result was declared on the basis of a continuous comprehensive evaluation (CCE), but the open student’s result was confirmed because it did so Students not covered by CCE criteria.
Singla said the government also decided to declare last year’s additional student exam results based on that year’s CCE. He added that these students had to appear in a subject as an additional exam this year, but were unable to take the exam due to the cancellation of the exam due to the spread of the Covid 19 pandemic.
