Uttar Pradesh’s deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Prime Minister Dinesh Sharma said Tuesday the chances of a partial reopening of schools in Uttar Pradesh from September 21 are very slim due to the rising number of corona cases in the state.

In its activation 4 guidelines, the center had issued SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) for a partial reopening of schools for students in grades 9 to 12 on a voluntary basis in order to receive advice from teachers. However, the Uttar Pradesh government has no such plans to allow schools to partially reopen.

“It is very unlikely that schools will be allowed to function partially. At least for this month it is not possible to run the school even partially. Student safety is a major concern and cannot be compromised, ”Sharma said.

Uttar Pradesh’s Covid infection number rose from 5,208 new cases to 3.17,195, while the death toll reached 4,491 on Monday and 62 more deaths were reported.

Many city schools have already discarded the idea of partial reopening.

La Martiniere College, La Martiniere Girls ‘College, St. Agnes’ Loreto Day School, St. Teresa’s Day School, Hoerner College and a few other institutions have decided to remain closed and continue online courses.
