Many universities do not have the IT resources required
During the petition hearing, lawyer Singhvi, who appeared for the petitioner, said that many universities do not have the IT infrastructure to run online exams. In addition, no investigation can be made between conditions caused by corona. The petitioner’s lawyer also stated that there is no difference in the guidelines issued by the UGC on April 22 and July 6. In the April 22nd Guidelines, the UGC gave instructions to conduct the exams through August 31st, while in the July 6th Guidelines instructions to conduct the exams through September 30th.
Exam results cannot be declared without UGC
In response, the UGC informed the court that a notice regarding the completion of final exams at universities and colleges across the country has been released regarding the future of students. In fact, students from many universities across the country have petitioned the Supreme Court against UGC guidelines. The petition submitted calls for the revised UGC guidelines to be repealed. On July 6, the UGC, in its revised guidelines, asked all universities in the country to take the exams for the last year or the last semester by September.
