Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ held a National Bal Bhawan (NBB) review meeting on Tuesday.
During the meeting, Pokhriyal instructed officials to speed up NBB’s activities in the present scenario. It also assessed the NBB’s progress over the past two years, its current membership details and training programs.
“NBB is a great platform for our children to learn various creative activities and we should also expand their activities in regional centers so that more children can benefit from this platform,” said Pokhriyal. To encourage creative activities, NBB should give a national award to children, he added.
Pokhriyal also directed the officials to work out a plan to do this. He urged officials to focus on student cultural exchange programs through webinars so that they can continue to learn about the cultural aspects of the country. He directed the officials to find out how to promote Bal Bhawan’s activities on international platforms.
The Minister of Education also instructed officials to speed up the process of filling vacancies at NBB.
On Monday before, Pokhriyal had reviewed various activities of the National Institute for Open Schools (NIOS) and discussed the strengthening of the examination mechanism.
The Minister of Education has said that the NIOS curriculum should be modeled on NCERT so that students can better understand the subjects.
