The IIT Bombay held its 58th annual convocation ceremony in virtual reality mode on Sunday in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the institute said.

“Taking into account the security measures during the ongoing pandemic, the institute held its convocation in virtual reality mode for its graduates,” the IIT-Bombay said in a press release.

IIT-Bombay said it did not want to deprive students of the sense of achievement and pride in leaving the leading engineering institute.

“A personalized avatar of each graduate received the certificate of completion from the personalized avatar of the director professor Subhasis Chaudhari. The medal winners also received their medals from the main guest’s personalized avatar, ”said the institute.
