All students are allowed to take the board exam twice during a school year to eliminate the higher risk aspect of final exams. If necessary, a main test and an improvement are permitted.

What impact will the new education policy have on higher education such as medicine and engineering?

Medical training needs to be revised. People use pluralistic health care alternatives. Our health education system needs to be integrated, which means that all students of allopathic medical education should have a basic understanding of Ayurveda, yoga and naturopathy, Unani and homeopathy. The same applies to all other medical students. Engineering Stream is also being introduced in multidisciplinary educational institutions and programs, with the focus again on opportunities to engage intensively with other disciplines.

The teaching medium will be the children’s mother tongue.

Teachers are given more freedom in choosing courses. Teachers must do the work from the point of view of the full development of the students, taking into account social and emotional aspects. Teachers are honored for positive results. The new directive provides teachers with opportunities for sustainable professional development.

This policy is based on the principle that education should not only develop basic skills such as literacy and arithmetic, as well as a higher level of logical and problem-solving cognitive skills, but also the creation of a moral, social and emotional character for students. Knowledge, wisdom and the search for truth are always considered to be the highest human goals in Indian thought tradition and philosophy. The goal of education in ancient India was seen as complete enlightenment and liberation of the human soul. Indian culture and philosophy have a huge impact on the world. This rich heritage of global importance must not only be preserved for future generations, but research should also be carried out on it. It needs to be enriched further.

What changes do you see in colleges and universities after the implementation of the new education policy?

The type of universities will change after the new educational policy comes into force. If we define the university, there will be many types of institutions that make teaching and research equally important. A predominantly autonomous university degree would refer to a large multidisciplinary university. At the same time, a step-by-step system is being implemented to give the universities autonomy. Over time, all universities will either become autonomous degrees, or develop as part of a university.
