Rakesh Pathania, newly appointed Minister of Forests, Youth Welfare and Sports, said Saturday that a sports university will soon be established in the Kangra district.
He paid a courtesy visit to senior BJP leader and former Prime Minister Shanta Kumar in Palampur.
Pathania, an MLA from the Nurpur constituency in the Kangra district, was inducted into the cabinet of CM Jai Ram Thakur on July 30.
Speaking to PTI, Pathania, who was appointed minister for the first time, said: “A state sports university is being established in the Kangra district. That being said, making it an excellent sports center in Himachal Pradesh is a priority. In this context, I also requested CM Jai Ram Thakur. “He said there is a lot of talent among the state’s youth and a special program is being launched to improve their skills.
The minister said the forest area in the mountain state would also be enlarged. “People come to see the forests in the state. Work is therefore underway to increase the chances of ecotourism in the state. Saurav Van Vihar from Palampur is associated with public feelings and a memorial to the memories of the country’s immortal martyr Sourav Kalia, ”he added.
The former CM Shanta Kumar had contributed a lot to the construction, and funds were granted for the renovation, which should begin shortly after the monsoon season, the minister said.
Rajya Sabha member Indu Goswami, Jaysinghpur MLA Ravindra Dhiman, Baijnath MLA Mulakh Raj Premi and Jawali MLA Arjun Thakur were present on this occasion.
