Special online program on Punjabi University Teachers Day
PATIALA: The Center for E-Learning & Teaching Excellence (CELTE) at Punjabi University in Patiala organized a special online program on Teacher’s Day. The program was also forwarded on the YouTube channel.

Prof. B.S. Ghuman, Vice Chancellor of Punjabi University in Patiala, also published an electronic report on best practices in online teaching at Punjabi University in which all teaching and academic activities during COVID-19 were actively continued through various online platforms. The university established this Center for E-Learning & Teaching Excellence (CELTE) to enable online teaching practices.

Prof. Devinder Pal Singh Sidhu, Chancellor, proposed a formal thank you vote and Prof. Vishal Goel, Deputy Director of CELTE, led the program.

While Prof. Ghuman was in charge of this position on Teachers Day, he fondly remembered all of his teachers who taught him from elementary school to the days of higher education. Vice Chancellor said what he is today is all because of his teachers. He said that a teacher is always a source of inspiration for his students. Hence, it becomes the duty and responsibility of teachers to meet the expectations of students and society. A teacher should have a passion for lifelong learning. While speaking about the qualities of an ideal teacher, he said that in addition to hard work, honesty, integrity, openness, and adaptability, a teacher should also be able to deal with any situation. The current troubled times have further made it necessary for us to keep pace with changing times, he said. He went on to emphasize that we have to make sure that we reach our students in very simple language so that every student can understand everything. While speaking specifically about the goals of Punjabi University, Patiala, he said we should pay proper attention to promoting education in our mother tongue.

Prof. Suresh Kumar, Nodal Manager, ‘Ek Bharat Sareshth Bharat’, Punjabi University, Patiala, gave a detailed account of ‘Human Values ​​in Education’. Teaching is a very sacred profession where human values ​​can never be ignored, he said.

Prof. Gurdeep Singh Batra, DAA who is also the director of CELTE, congratulated and welcomed the entire faculty on Teachers Day and said it is a great pride for us that the university has been actively pursuing online teaching modes in the USA as times are changing . He said that this center is taking all possible measures to facilitate online teaching and prepare various online learning modules for teachers.
