The Ministry of Minority Affairs has implemented various welfare systems for six centrally reported minority communities and distributed them through four Crore scholarships to strengthen student education, Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said on Monday.
In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Naqvi said: “Since 2014-15 to date, a total of 4,00,06,080 scholarships have been distributed to students from economically weaker parts of minority communities, spending a total of 11,690.81 rupees. “
According to an official press release, the total amount allocated for the ministry over the 2015-16 to 2019-20 period was Rs 21,160.84 billion, and actual spending was nearly 90.75 percent.
It goes on to say: “Rs 9,223.68 billion were spent on grants to 3.06.19.546 beneficiaries under various grants programs of the Ministry in the period 2015-16 to 2019-20, of which about 54% were grants to female students from minorities. ”
