Schools Reopening: The Cambodian Schools reopening on September 7th
PHNOM PENH: Schools across Cambodia will reopen on September 7th after being temporarily closed in March due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Education said Thursday.

Education Minister Hang Chuon Naron said in a statement that schools must properly follow standard operating procedures set by the Ministry of Health to ensure the safety of students, Xinhua News Agency reports.

“Schools must adhere to safety and hygiene measures, especially maintaining social distance by not allowing students to congregate to prevent the spread of Covid-19,” he said.

The number of students in a classroom cannot exceed 20, the statement says.

The new academic year 2020-2021 will start on January 11, 2021.

Cambodia has successfully controlled the spread of the Covid-19.

The country has so far recorded a total of 273 confirmed cases, excluding deaths and 264 recoveries.
