Russian schools open with classrooms, cafeteria precautions
MOSCOW: Russian children have returned to school after taking online classes since the coronavirus pandemic hit the country in late March.

To prevent a renewed increase in certain cases, all teachers were subjected to a mandatory virus test before the reopening of elementary and secondary schools on September 1st. The temperature tests are conducted every morning and the school schedules have been changed to reduce the number of students attending at the same time.

Authorities have also limited how many children can be together in school cafeterias and recreational areas.

Masks in schools are not mandatory for all 85 regions of Russia, although in some provinces both students and teachers are required to wear them. Children with a classmate who tested positive for the coronavirus will be quarantined for two weeks.

Parents have the option to keep their homes to continue studying online.
