In order to strengthen the youth of the border districts of the state, the government of Punjab developed the Government College Kala Afgana as a sports school and opened a new college in Ladhupur in the Gurdaspur district.
According to an official announcement, the Punjab University Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa said: “With this visionary decision, the Punjab Prime Minister Amarinder Singh has fulfilled the long-awaited demand of the people in the border area.”
The Minister of Higher Education said that the Kala Afgana Sports School would bring new opportunities to the youth in sports and reach new heights.
“This college became a constituent college of the newly established Patiala Sports University,” he added.
Also, he said that the new graduate school in Ladhupur would be very helpful for the students to continue their higher studies in their nearby place as they do not have to travel far away, especially the rural girls.
“The Punjab government would also introduce new job-oriented vocational courses at Ladhupur College to make the youth of the area employable,” added the minister.
Rahul Bhandari, Secretary for Higher Education, announced that Ladhupur College was finished. The staff was provided and the lessons would begin from this session itself.
He also mentioned that no Kala Afghana College employee will be fired; All staff were transferred to Ladhupur College.
