Punjab enables the open admission of open students
CHANDIGARH: The government of Punjab decided on Friday to allow the provisional admission of 31,022 open category XI candidates to school as regular students.

However, these students will need to take Class X exams when the Covid 19 situation normalizes.

Minister of Punjab School Education, Vijay Inder Singla, said that the enrollment result for regular students was declared by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) based on a continuous comprehensive assessment (CCE), but the result of open students has been confirmed because of this for these students not the case is covered under CCE criteria.

“Candidates in the open category were faced with a dilemma because they were not admitted to school as regular students. After examining the situation, we decided to give them short-term relief. Now they can be temporarily admitted to Class XI at the condition that when things get normal, they have to pass matriculation exams, “said Singla.

Vijay Inder Singla said the government has also decided to declare the result of last year’s additional student review based on that year’s CCE. He added that this student had to appear in a subject as a supplementary exam this year, but was unable to take the exam due to the spread of the exam given the spread of the Covid 19 pandemic.

Singla said that the education department had not yet completed the open student exam sheet, but would definitely ensure a safe environment while taking their exams for Covid-19 distribution. He added that the Punjab government is continuously monitoring the situation in the state and will not take PSEB exams until the government allows them to engage in student activities in schools.
