Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has announced several changes to the Prime Minister’s PMRF (Premier Fellowship) program to improve research quality in the country’s higher education institutions. These changes were made as part of the program to make the benefits of the grant more accessible to researchers. At the same time, the Minister of Personnel announced that GATE’s score would be reduced. The GATE score was then reduced from 750 to 650.

The Union minister said the required GATE score for students at a recognized institute / university was reduced from 750 to 650 in addition to at least 8 or an equivalent CGPA. Then these changes apply to IISc, IIT, NIT, IISER, IIEST and centrally funded IIIT. The education minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was always committed to promoting research, technology and research in the country. In this direction, the PMRF was announced by the government in the 2018-19 budget. Changes have now been made so that the benefits of this program reach more and more students.
