Himanshu Rai, director of IIM-Indore, the organizing institute for CAT 2020, said: “We will hold the exams in three instead of two sessions this year. We decided to make these changes to ensure that candidates get their first preferred city choice while socially distancing themselves. “He added that the IIMs couldn’t expand the exam centers without first testing them. Each of the three sections in the newspaper that ran an hour earlier is reduced to 40 minutes each.
IIMs extended the registration date to 5pm on September 23rd. There will be no further extension. The institutes will publish the relevant changes shortly.
Exams conducted by recognized universities like NMIMS and Symbiosis have made the exam process more convenient for students. With NMIMS, NMAT (NMIMS Management Aptitude Test) aspirants can opt for a test center or an online supervised exam at home. Ramesh Bhat, acting vice chancellor of NMIMS, said there could be students who do not have access to the internet or computers. “To make the exam more convenient for them, NMIMS offers both options,” he said. Symbiosis allows students to take the exam twice and use the better of the two grades for admission.
