The Odisha government announced on Wednesday that the 12th grade curriculum for the current academic session will be reduced by 30 percent.
The decision was made as schools are closed across the state due to the COVID-19 pandemic, said Minister of School and Mass Education, Samir Ranjan Dash.
The announcement was made on the recommendation of three committees established for this purpose.
The new curriculum will be available on the official websites of the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) and the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT).
Block Education Officers and District Education Officers will notify schools of the government’s decision, Dash said.
Chapters that help students successfully pass national-level tests have been retained, he said.
At the reopening of the schools, the minister said that the matter would be examined as soon as the center gave an instruction on the matter.
