Karnataka will endeavor to implement the new national education policy itself from August, said Minister of Primary and Secondary Education S Suresh Kumar on Friday.
The Minister was in discussion with the Chairman of the draft National Committee on Education Policy, Dr. K Kasturirangan, at a video conference informing him that the state has also drafted a policy to be merged with the NEP.
“Within 14 days, the two directives would be merged to produce a separate government policy and would be open to the public by August 20,” Kumar told Kasturirangan, a former ISRO chairman.
Kumar said Karnataka would be at the forefront to systematically implement the policy.
According to Kumar, the NEP is a complete policy that has been formulated after 34 years to make it sustainable.
“With high quality education for everyone, the new policy will create a vibrant and stable society.
Karnataka is committed to implementing this policy, ”said Suresh Kumar during the conference.
The NEP proposes some profound changes in the education sector, including the abolition of M Phil and four-year UG courses.
