NVice President M Venkaiah Naidu was pleased with the new Education Policy (NEP) 2020 on Thursday and described it as an important step forward to improve access to quality education for children and young people.
Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishak’ today asked Upa-Rashtrapati Niwas’ Vice President to inform him about the government’s announced NEP yesterday.
The Minister also gave the Vice President a copy of the policy and a note highlighting the key features of NEP 2020.
Naidu welcomed the emphasis on a holistic, learning-centered, flexible system that aims to transform India into a living knowledge society, and said that it rightly reconciles India’s roots and pride and acceptance of the best ideas and practices in the world of learning brings from all over the world.
He was happy with the importance attached to the mother tongue at the primary level of politics.
“Diversity and respect for the local context and the recognition of the importance of the classic languages of India will undoubtedly give the learners a holistic view of the world. NEP-2020’s focus on ethics, human and constitutional values would make a major contribution to creating enlightened citizenship that is essential to deepening our democratic roots, ”said Naidu.
Naidu called the NEP-2020 vision “truly global and essentially Indian” and said it was an example of India’s timeless striving to welcome noble thoughts from around the world.
The Vice President also expressed satisfaction that the new policy reflected his belief that there should be no imposition and no resistance to a language. (ANI)
