The Tamil Nadu government has asked the center to cancel NEET or at least exempt state students from taking this exam if they are held, Minister K A Sengottaiyan said Wednesday.
The Minister of School Education spoke to reporters after inaugurating Rs 4.62 billion worth of development work in the village of Nambiyur, near Gobichettipalayam, and reiterating that Prime Minister K Palaniswami would not make a decision until after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic the reopening of schools.
The minister said admission to state and state-sponsored schools has started and the response has been overwhelming.
When asked about complaints from students’ parents that some private institutions charge a 100 percent fee, the minister replied that if parents file a proper complaint with evidence, action would be taken against such schools.
He cited the court order that only 40 percent of the fees should be charged.
