A new national curriculum framework for teacher education (NCFTE) is being formulated in the country as part of the National Education Policy (NEP), Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said on Wednesday.

The new and comprehensive NCFTE is being formulated by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) in consultation with the National Council for Education Research and Training (NCERT), according to the Ministry of Education.

Nishank had previously stated that the government is taking several initiatives and measures to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

“The NEP 2020 was finalized after a detailed consultation process with all stakeholders, including the state governments / UT. According to the National Education Policy 2020, the implementation of the policy requires several initiatives and measures that have to be taken synchronously and systematically by several bodies, ”Pokhriyal said today in a written response in the Lok Sabha.

Accordingly, this ministry has informed all states / UT governments that NEP 2020 should be implemented verbally and spiritually. The Ministry of Education is also organizing “ShikshakParv” from September 8th to 25th, 2020 in order to discuss various topics and the implementation of NEP 2020 and to make suggestions, ”he said.

Major reforms in school education brought about by NEP 2020 include the universalization of early childhood care education (ECCE), the national mission to focus on basic literacy and basic numeracy skills, no rigid separation between art and science flows and repeal the separation between work, science and curriculum and outside of school.
