There is good news from the world of education amid the ongoing struggle against the coronavirus in the country. Now Kendriya Vidyalayas is headed by the government in all IITs, NITs and central universities in the country. In this context, the Ministry of Personnel Development has received proposals from IITs on other issues, including infrastructure. Previously, private schools were operated in many IITs. In November, the court ordered the closure of private schools operated by IITs following a petition submitted to the Delhi Supreme Court.
7 out of 23 IITs work in Kendriya Vidyalayas
The Ministry of Personnel Development has now given priority to enrolling the children of employees of the institute in question in these schools and to head the central school. Currently seven out of 23 IITs, only two out of 31 NITs and only eight out of 50 central universities, including the center and the states, operate Kendriya Vidyalayas.
The court ruled to close private schools on campus
At the request of Sujit Swamy, a former employee of IIT Mandi, the Delhi Supreme Court had previously ordered the closure of private schools operating in IITs. Swamy then submitted an RTI to the MHRD for the note regarding compliance with the Delhi High Court’s order. This fact came to light afterwards. According to experts, this is an important step in promoting state education.
These schools have central schools
These schools are operated in many IITs, NITs and universities across the country. IITs operate in Guwahati, Delhi, Bombay, Jodhpur, Madras, Kanpur, Kharagpur, NIT Silchar, Agartala, Tezpur Central University, Silchar, Jammu, Sagar, Wardha, Shillong, Mizoram and Nagaland.
Other students are admitted
IITs and NITs allow students to enroll from one Kendriya Vidyalaya to another Kendriya Vidyalaya if they leave an institution. This allows other students to be admitted if the places are free. In the past, 40 to 50,000 rupees went to the private school, which was operated annually on campus for a fee. Now the burden on employees is also reduced.
