J&K Govt is issuing around 12.44 lakh certificates of residence through August 31st

SRINAGAR: The government of Jammu and Kashmir had issued approximately 12.44 lakh certificates of residence in twenty districts in union territory by the end of August.

“The government of Jammu and Kashmir has issued approximately 12.44 lakh residency certificates in twenty districts of union area. The certificates issued include 2.86 lakh in the Kashmir division and 9.45 lakh in the Jammu division,” said the JK government in a press release.

According to the figures, a total of 17,18,887 lakh applied for the issuance of the certificate, of which 12,43,996 were resident by August 31.

Certificates issued include 2.86 lakh in the Kashmir division and 9.45 lakh in the Jammu division.

Of the domicile certificates issued in the UT, more than 10.95 lakh were issued to holders of the Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC), 0.77 lakh to other residents / children; 0.67 lakh to the students and 13,373 to Kashmiri migrants / children.

Of the total of 17,18,887 applications received in the UT by the end of August, more than 4.58 lakh are pending, including 3.46 lakh in the Jammu division and 0.88 lakh in the Kashmir division.

In the last week of June, the issuing of certificates of residence in the Union territory began.
