jee neet news: JEE main and NEET exams 2020: Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury urges PM Modi to postpone exams
NEW DELHI: Opposition leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday asking him to postpone the joint entrance examination (JEE) and the national entrance examination (NEET) until the COVID-19 situation improves.

“Aspirants are under tremendous mental pressure to stay physically immune while taking exams. In this pandemic situation, their concerns should be considered. The specter of the corona will haunt students during the exam period beginning September 1,” he said wrote to PM Modi.

“When the country has an infection spike of more than 70,000 cases per day, I think there is a need to check the date of the exam as it is supposed to be about 25 lakh students,” he added.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced on Friday that JEE would take place September 1-6 and NEET September 13th.

Previously, Rajya Sabha MP Vivek Tankha also wrote to Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal to consider all aspects of student safety and protection before giving the final dates of the JEE and NEET entrance tests for COVID-19 Pandemic announced.

On August 17, the Supreme Court rejected a petition seeking to postpone NEET and JEE to September 2020.
