The Ministry of Personnel Development (MHRD) postponed the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) and the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) to September on Friday.
“Taking into account the safety of the students and to ensure high quality education, we decided to postpone the JEE and NEET exams. The JEE (main) exam takes place between September 1st and 6th, and the JEE Advanced exam takes place on September 27th. The NEET exam will take place on September 13, ”said Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Minister of Human Resources Development.
On Thursday, the Ministry of Personnel Development asked the review center to provide recommendations on how to conduct selection tests for medical and technical seats in the midst of the pandemic.
“Given the prevailing circumstances and requests from students and parents who have appeared on the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and the National Admission Cum Admission Test (NEET), a committee was advised, consisting of the Director General, the National Testing Authority and other experts will review the situation and submit recommendations to the HRD ministry tomorrow at the latest, ”Pokhriyal said.
Previously, NEET, the medical entrance exam, was scheduled to take place on July 26, while JEE for technical seats was scheduled to take place between July 18 and 23.
In the meantime, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) canceled the upcoming board exams last week, scheduled to take place between July 1st and July 15th.
CBSE has created a scheme that takes into account the grades obtained in the last three exams. For class 12, tests are carried out for students who choose to do the same as soon as the situation becomes favorable.
However, those who choose not to take exams will be assessed based on their performance in previous exams.
