JEE Mains 2020: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee said 75 percent of the state’s candidates were unable to attend JEE on Tuesday, while only half of them showed up at exam centers in other states due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

She said her government had made all arrangements for the students, but only 1,167 took the test, although 4,652 candidates were due to show up on Tuesday, the first day of the exam.

“The students are in big trouble. You couldn’t try the JEE exams. In other states, more than 50 percent of students couldn’t show up because of the pandemic situation, ”Banerjee told reporters.

The prime minister had previously asked the center not to hold the JEE in the pandemic.
