JEE main result declared; 24 candidates receive 100 percentiles

The result for JEE-Mains was announced on Friday. 24 students scored 100 percentage points on the technical entrance exam, which was postponed twice in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic.

While Telangana has a maximum of 100 percentile scorers with 8, Delhi ranks second with 500 percentile scorers, followed by Rajasthan (4), Andhra Pradesh (3), Haryana (2) and one candidate each from Gujarat and Maharashtra.

The Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) -Mains for admission to engineering schools was conducted September 1-6, taking strict precautions and social distancing measures in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Relocated entrances and exits for candidates, disinfectant at the gate, the distribution of masks and keeping the distance while the candidates queued were among the scenes observed in exam centers across the country.

A total of 8.58 Lakh candidates had signed up for the JEE Mains exam for admission to engineering courses at IITs, NITs, and Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), while only 74 percent of them showed up for the exam.

Increasing the number of exam centers, alternative seating plans, fewer candidates per room, and staggered entry and exit were among the steps taken by the National Testing Agency to safely conduct the crucial exam.

While the governments of Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh had assured students that they would transport candidates, a group of IIT alumni and students also launched a portal to provide transport centers for exam centers for the candidates in need.

Given the rising number of Covid-19 cases, there had been a growing chorus to postpone JEE Mains and the NEET medical entrance exam.

The Supreme Court had previously rejected a request to postpone the two exams due to an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases. He said a “precious year” of students cannot be wasted and life must go on.

Based on the results of JEE Mains Paper 1 and Paper 2, the best 2.45 lakh candidates can apply for the JEE Advanced exam, which is a one-stop exam for admission the 23 leading Indian Technology Institutes (IITs). JEE-Advanced will take place on September 27th.
