The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur founded the Academy of Classical and Folk Art and adopted the 2020 national education policy. The institute announced that the Academy of Classical and Folk Art was inaugurated on August 18, 2020. This is the first of its kind at IIT aimed at nurturing student creative talent. The education of music, visual arts and performing arts is imparted to the students through the Academy of Classical and Folk Arts at IIT Kharagpur.
Innovation and creativity are encouraged
According to Pallab Dasgupta, professor in charge of the Academy of Classical and Folk Art and professor at the Institute of Computer Science and Engineering, the spirit of creativity, collaboration and collective livelihood is embedded in the process of teaching and learning the forms of traditional art and creative art. . The motivation of the current generation to learn creative arts will enable them to develop skills of focus, collaboration, trust, and creativity that act as catalysts for scientific intelligence.
Initiatives started as part of the new education policy
According to the spokesman for IIT Kharagpur, the Academy of Classical and Folk Arts was set up in accordance with the proposals of the new National Education Policy 2020 to encourage innovation and creativity among students. The spokesman said Indian classical singer Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty will lead the “100 Ragas” campaign at this new academy.
