IIT Delhi has developed such a device with which the mask can be reused in 10 minutes. The researchers called it Chakr DeCoV. This device makes the N-95 mask reusable and reduces biomedical waste. Researchers claim that this device eliminates 99.99 percent of the viruses and bacteria present in the mask.
Approved by ICMR
It was created by IIT startup Chakra Innovation and approved by the Indian Medical Research Council (ICMR). According to the researchers, it is an ozone-based device that enables the mask to be reused up to ten times.
This is how the device works
According to Tushar Batham, vice president of the institute, the device is based on ozone. Ozone is an oxidizing agent that destroys the virus’s infection-causing proteins. After that, the DNA of the virus is also damaged. The mask is kept in the machine and the ozone depletion causes an infection.
Director of IIT Delhi Prof. According to V Ramgopal Rao, the institute helps solve problems related to Kovid-19 through technology. We are committed to providing PPE kits, reusing items and disposing of them safely.
