Congress spokesman Manish Doshi said Sunday that due to heavy rains and the rising number of Covid-19 cases, the government should postpone the exams taking into account the health and safety of students.
The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) announced Sunday that exams would take place on August 24, according to the schedule, which was scheduled for 1,27,230 students.
The exam takes place at 641 exam centers in 34 districts. After completing the GUJCET, the board will conduct an additional exam for grade X students as well as grade XII students who have failed in one or two subjects. A total of 23,830 candidates are expected to take the exams, which will take place August 25-27. 1.31,901 candidates are expected for the supplementary class X test between August 25 and August 28.
The GUJCET exams, which were supposed to take place earlier on March 31, have been delayed due to the Covid-19 crisis.
At the GSHSEB, which runs the GUJCET, 12,5781 students of class XII (natural sciences) have registered for the exam. There are 49,888 students from Group A, 75,519 from Group B and 374 from Group AB.
A performance listing for college admission is created by weighting the percentile the candidate received in GUJCET 2020 as 40% and the percentile obtained in Board of Science exams in Class XII (science) as 60% becomes.
