Gujarat will be the first to implement NEP 2020: CM Vijay Rupani
AHMEDABAD: Gujarat’s Prime Minister Vijay Rupani said on Saturday that his government intends to be the first to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and will soon set up a task force to create a roadmap for it.

Rupani spoke at an event in Gandhinagar to congratulate 44 teachers on Teachers Day.

“The new NEP has been translated into Gujarati and a task force is being formed to prepare a roadmap for Gujarat soon,” said the prime minister.

Based on this roadmap, the state will make drastic changes in education, from primary to secondary and higher education, from KG to PG (kindergarten to graduation), he said.

“Gujarat should be the first state to implement education policy. We should move forward quickly to become a role model for creating India’s future,” Rupani told the gathering.

Governor Acharya Devvrat, as well as the Cabinet and State Education Ministers Bhupendrasinh Chudasama and Vibhavari Dave, and senior education officials attended the event.

“In the age of industrialization, when people only care about themselves and their careers, it is teachers who, despite low salaries, create a new generation and prepare people to care about India of the future,” he said .

Because of the strength of teachers and schools in the state, his government has “reversed” the trend of parents moving their children from private to state schools, the prime minister said.
