The Union Minister of Education, Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, paid tribute to the father of Indian engineer Bharat Ratna M Visvesvaraya on Tuesday on the occasion of his 159th birthday.
In his honor, India celebrates Engineers’ Day on September 15th every year.
“Greet him on Engineer’s Day, the birthday of the great engineer and diplomat“ Bharat Ratna ”of modern India, Shri M Visvesvaraya. Congratulations and best wishes to all the engineers who have made an invaluable contribution to the country’s progress, ”he tweeted (roughly translated from Hindi).
Nishank also urged people to remember the innovations Indian engineers made that day.
“Mokshagundam Visvesvaray was a prolific engineer, educator and statesman of the 20th century. His birthday, September 15, is celebrated as Engineer’s Day. On this day of the engineer, let’s remember the innovations and great work of our engineers, ”he tweeted.
The Union Minister also shared Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s lines for Indian engineers and tweeted, “From Make in India to Digital India, India’s engineers play a vital role in realizing India’s aspirations – Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.”
M Visvesvaraya was born on September 15, 1861 in Muddenahalli near Chikkaballapur. He was a world renowned civil engineer and is considered one of the nation’s leading builders. He created wonders on which modern India was built.
