Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal “Nishank” held a review meeting on Friday to discuss preparations for the national curriculum framework and the implementation of the national education policy approved by the union cabinet last month.
The meeting was attended by the Director of the National Council for Education Research and Training (NCERT) Hrushikesh Senapaty and the Secretary of the School Education and Literacy Department Anita Karwal.
“In line with the vision of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji, a review meeting was held today with NCERT Director Hrushikesh Senapatyji and DoSEL Secretary Anita Karwalji,” Pokhriyal said in a tweet.
He said the establishment of the RIE (Regional Institute of Education) in Nellore, the annual report and the audited accounts of the NCERT for 2018-19 were also discussed at the meeting.
“Various topics were discussed during the meeting: the establishment of the RIE in Nellore, the annual report and audited financial statements of NCERT for 2018-19, preparations for NCF and implementation of NEP,” said the minister.
Other topics at the meeting include research funded by the NCERT Program Advisory Board and the printing and distribution of textbooks.
Following NEP’s announcement, NCERT is expected to soon begin work on the NCF, which will equip children with 21st century skills.
