The Central Institute for Petrochemical Engineering and Technology will soon set up new centers for training and technical support in Bhagalpur and Varanasi, the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers announced on Tuesday.
Department of Chemistry and Petrochemicals Secretary RK Chaturvedi said that around 1,000 young people are trained in each center through diploma and qualification programs for employment in the petrochemical and related industries each year.
The technical support services from these centers – Bhagalpur (Bihar) and Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) – will act as a catalyst for the development and growth of new and existing industries in the region, he said.
Currently, CIPET (Central Institute for Petrochemical Engineering and Technology) has 43 operating centers and nine more centers are being established across the country to meet the needs of the polymer and related industries.
CIPET also has 31 competence and technology support centers that organize training programs for diplomas, PG diplomas and competence developments in polymer science, engineering and technology.
CIPET makes an active contribution to various government initiatives such as Skill India, Make in India, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Stand up India, Start-up India and Digital India.
