Artificial intelligence should improve ordinary people's lives: Telangana IT minister
HYDERABAD: Artificial intelligence should improve the lives of ordinary people, said State Minister of Information Technology and Industry, KT Rama Rao.

The minister said that AI is a powerful tool that creates space for government innovation to address traditionally difficult or near-impossible problems.

Rao said this during a chat at NASSCOM Xperience AI’s virtual summit, titled “IT Is Now About Intelligence Technology – India’s AI Imperative”.

Quoting CM KCR, Minister KTR said, “Any technology that is not used to improve the lives of ordinary people is of minimal relevance. The focus of our state should be on using these technologies to improve the lives of ordinary people.”

He added that AI decision support systems will help the government plan data-driven policy interventions in governance, food systems, safety, healthcare, education and beyond.

“Addressing the pandemic and the economic challenges it poses is a top priority for all states, and AI has played a critical role in this,” he added.

Rao also said the Telangana State Innovation Cell (TSIC) is currently working on strengthening the social innovation ecosystem in Telangana. The T-Social Startups Network (TSSN) under the Telangana State Innovation Cell (TSIC), which is anchored by AIC-IIITH as a dedicated platform for stakeholders for the social innovation ecosystem, will enhance the overall impact and focus on social innovation and social impact focus the state.
