“The entrance tests are scheduled to take place from September 10th, starting with the Andhra Pradesh Integrated Joint Entrance Test (AP ICET), which will take place in four sessions on September 10th and 11th,” said Minister of Education Adimulapu Suresh.
ICET offers admission to courses such as MCA and MBA.
The Andhra Pradesh Engineering Common Entrance Test (AP ECET) is scheduled for next Monday and the Engineering Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) between September 17th and 25th.
Suresh said AP PGCET will take place on September 26th, followed by the AP Post Graduate Engineering Common Entrance Test (PGECET) on September 28-30.
“The AP Education Common Entrance Test (AP EDCET) and AP LawCET will take place on October 1st and the AP Physical Education Common Entrance Test (APPECET) on October 2-5,” said the minister.
Up to 2.7 lakh students have applied for EAMCET, with the majority taking the exam for admission to various branches of engineering courses, followed by medical and agricultural courses.
ICET received applications from 64,884 students, followed by 37,167 for APECET.
Since the eight entrance tests would take place in the shadow of the coronavirus pandemic, the department is taking precautions for their safe behavior.
“In order to keep an eye on student safety, the number of exam slots has been increased to accommodate fewer students in each slot,” he said.
Likewise, all exam centers are disinfected with sodium hypochlorite for each session, with hand sanitizer, gloves, face masks and heat scanners provided to ensure a safe environment.
Suresh assured the students’ parents that all safety precautions were in place.
On Tuesday, coronavirus cases in the southern state rose 10,601 to bring the state’s total to 5.17 lakh.
