Just one day before the planned JEE (September 1st), students are stressed out about whether exams will be held or postponed, even if India continues to register the world’s highest single-day Covid-19 cases in recent days. Ahmedabad Mirror decided to find out for themselves what they wanted from the students performing for JEE and NEET.
Mirror conducted a survey of students across the state. The participants were asked six questions (see box). 616 students from over 60 state schools took part in the survey. Of these, 341 students said JEE / NEET should be postponed while 275 students said it should take place. This means that 55.36 percent of students did not approve of the exams currently taking place, while 44.64 percent would like to do so as planned.
The survey was conducted online for two days, with 365 of the participating students (an estimated 59.25%) appearing for JEE and 251 or 40.75% for NEET. JEE begins September 1st and lasts through September 6th, while NEET is scheduled for September 13th.
